I’m back again with another healthy snack recipe. In this post’ we’re making something that is a total hit with toddlers, but honestly, it’s just as good for adults, too.
I’m going to share how to make strawberry-flavored, probiotic-rich gelatin gummies. They’re a fun way to get some solid nutrition into your kids, especially that gut-supporting goodness we’re all looking for. it’s a win-win for everyone.
Why You’ll Love These
- Gut-Healing Superstars: These are packed with grass-fed gelatin and kefir. Gelatin is amazing for gut health—it’s a great source of glycine and proline, which are amino acids that help restore the gut lining.
- Toddler Approved: They are squishy, fun, and the perfect size for little hands to hold.
- Totally Customizable: You can easily switch up the fruits or the sweetness level depending on what your family likes.
- Quick & Easy: These only take a few minutes to prep and they set super fast in the fridge.
things we need
Special Equipment
- High-powered blender
- Silicone gummy molds (fruit shapes or bears) OR an 8×8 glass container
- Small saucepan
- Whisk
Ingredients
- 150g Organic frozen strawberries (approx. 1 heaped cup)
- ½ cup Water (for blending)
- 4 tbsp Grass-fed gelatin (unflavored)
- 4 tsp Raw honey (add more if you like it sweeter)
- ½ cup Milk kefir (plain)
- Optional: 2–4 tsp Beetroot juice (strictly for color)
The Ingredients (And what to look for)
We only need a few things for this, but the quality of the ingredients makes a big difference:
1. Gelatin: I’m using grass-fed gelatin (the Nutra Organics brand). Pro tip: Make sure you are buying gelatin (the stuff that actually gels) and not collagen peptides. Collagen is great, but it dissolves completely and won’t help your gummies set!
2. Milk Kefir: This is where the probiotics come in. Kefir is a fermented yogurt-style drink that is incredibly rich in probiotics—personally, I think it’s even more potent than standard yogurt. This is the “secret sauce” for that healthy gut boost.
3. Strawberries: For that natural, delicious flavor.
4. Cute Molds: You can use bears, stars, or whatever you have on hand, but the fun shapes definitely make them more appealing to the little ones.
Let’s Get started
1. Blend the Base
Start by adding your organic frozen strawberries into a high-powered blender. Pop those in with half a cup of water just to help it blend more easily. Give that a good whizz until the strawberries are completely smooth.
2. “Bloom” the Gelatin
Next, we need to “bloom” the gelatin. This just means hydrating it so it doesn’t get clumpy. Mix your gelatin into the strawberry puree and let it sit for a few minutes to thicken up.
3. Heat It Gently
Move the mixture to a saucepan on the stove. Add a little bit of beetroot juice (this is totally optional, it’s just for that bright red color!) and the honey. Heat that up on low to medium heat.
Crucial Step: We do not want to boil it. We just want enough heat to melt the gelatin.
The Most Important Part: Don’t Kill the Bacteria!
Once the gelatin is melted, take it off the heat and let it cool down a bit.
This is the most important part of the recipe: We need to add the kefir after the mixture has cooled. If you add the kefir while the mix is boiling hot, you’ll kill all those sensitive probiotics, and the gummies will lose their gut-healing benefits!
Once it’s cooled slightly, pour the mix back into the blender, add the kefir, and give it another quick whizz.
Filling the Molds
Pour the mix into the molds! If you have extra mix , just pour it into a square glass container. You can slice it into squares later, which look super cute as well.
Pop them in the fridge, and they set really quickly. About 20 minutes later, you’ll have semi-solid gummies ready to go.
That’s It!
It’s a really fun, easy way to introduce gelatin and kefir into your toddler’s diet without any fuss. If you give this a try, let me know in the comment.

minutesDelicious, chewy homemade gummies packed with gut-healing gelatin and probiotic-rich kefir. A fun, low-sugar snack that toddlers and adults will love.
Ingredients
- Equipment Needed:**
Blender
Saucepan
Silicone Molds
- Ingredients:
150 g Frozen strawberries
1/2 cup Water
4 tbsp Unflavored beef gelatin (grass-fed preferred)
4 tsp Honey (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup Milk kefir
4 tsp Beetroot juice (optional, for color)
Directions
- Combine frozen strawberries and water in a blender. Blend until perfectly smooth.
- Pour the puree into a small saucepan (off the heat). Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the top and whisk well. Let sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- Place saucepan over low-medium heat. Add honey and beetroot juice. Whisk constantly until gelatin is fully dissolved and liquid is warm. Do not let it boil.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Add the milk kefir and whisk or blend until combined.
- Pour into silicone molds or a glass dish.
- Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to set (1 hour for best texture).
- Unmold and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Notes
- Texture: 4 tablespoons of gelatin makes a very firm, “finger-food” friendly gummy. If you prefer a softer, Jell-O style texture, reduce gelatin to 2.5 or 3 tablespoons.
- Probiotics: Ensure the mixture is not hot when adding the kefir, or you will lose the probiotic benefits.
- Storage: Because these contain fresh dairy and fruit, keep them in the fridge. They will last up to 5-7 days.
- Swaps: You can use fruit juice (like orange or apple) instead of water for the blending step if you want them sweeter.
